Introduction and update

Lisa Springate

Lisa is head of the Legal and Technical department at Jersey Finance and a member of the leadership team. Her role is to assist in representing the finance industry’s needs with regard to legislation, regulation, and other key areas of innovation, in order to ensure that it is represented to the best effect on the world stage.

Prior to this, she was a partner in private practice, practising in commercial litigation for over 25 years and acted for high net worth individuals, trust companies and banks. 

She is due to retire as Chair of the Institute of Directors (“IoD”) in Jersey, (following her three year tenure at the end of May) and due to be appointed as Chair of Visit Jersey. 

She is also is a member of the Board of the Good Business Charter.

Jersey Pension Regulations Update

Charlotte Brambilla is Associate Director in the Financial Service Unit which is part of the Economy Directorate of Government of Jersey. She is policy lead for Pension Regulation. She is currently working together with industry, the Regulator and Jersey Finance in enabling the phased delivery of pension regulation into Jersey legislation. She is a qualified Jersey advocate, and English barrister with a background in pension law, trust law and regulation.

Opportunities in Climate Change

Marc is the founder of the award-winning Environmental and Social Impact Monitor Ltd (ESI Monitor). Marc and his team work with over 120 businesses in 14 countries, helping them to improve their environmental performance. Prior to founding ESI Monitor, Marc had a successful career in both business and politics in the Channel Islands. Currently, he is also a non-executive director of financial services business Aspida Group, and director of international mental health service provider The Decider.

Michael has worked across a broad range of the offshore financial services sector within a number of jurisdictions, starting out in commodity trading and moving to managing corporate benefits and then onto distribution for a pension trustee. Latterly, Michael has been with Praemium for the last 6 years, one of the leading global platform solutions. Sitting on the board of the Praemium International business, Michael has seen the growth of platforms in the global space and is excited about what the future holds for a technology focused solution.

Trends in governance – Governance matters – how strong governance delivers positive outcomes for members

Anton is a director within JTC’s Employer Solutions business, based in London. He has 25 years’ financial services experience covering, international retirement, equity incentives and corporate services. Anton is a member of Corporate Governance Institute.


Alison Creed, Director at LawDeb

Alison Creed

Alison is a Director working across Pensions and Corporate Services, based in the Channel Islands.

Alison brings 30 years of experience working across trustee and company business, audit, and accounting. Most recent was her role at Jersey-based Fairway Group, where she was Head of Fund Administration following her role as Director in their Pensions team. This follows roles at RBC Wealth Management including Managing Director and Joint Head of Business for the RBC Corporate Employee and Executive Service, and PwC where she was an Audit Manager. 

Alison is a Chartered Accountant by training.


Mike Haynes

Mike is a tax advisor proving clients with advice on the taxation of pension schemes:

  • His role involves representing pension schemes and employers in their dealings with HM Revenue & Customs such as responding to questions from HMRC and managing investigations.
  • Mike also advises high net worth private clients to help them understand the UK and overseas tax impact of taking benefits from UK and offshore pension plans.
  • Works with employers to design, implement, and operate non-UK pension plans

Mike presents at conferences on the subject of pension scheme taxation and is a contributor to ‘Taxation’ magazine and the ‘TaxAdvisor’.


Haydn Jones, PwC UK

Haydn Jones

Director – Senior Blockchain Market Specialist, Financial Crime, PwC UK

Haydn is a Director and Senior Blockchain Market Specialist at PwC. He has over 20 years’ commercial, operational and transformation experience working for retail and investment banks, a central bank, a regulator, a global management consultancy firm and a Japanese technology company.

Haydn has run cash management and funding units, as well as foreign exchange and equities settlement teams, alongside leading projects to re-engineer the underlying platforms. He has worked in architecturally complex, data rich environments, grappling with the challenge of reconciling legacy and leading edge technologies across client-sensitive platforms demanding high levels of availability.


Damian Wallen, Rossborough Financial Services Limited

Damian Wallen

Damian has worked in the finance industry 26 years had has been providing financial advice for 20 years. Damian has a wealth of experience and expertise in the local personal and corporate financial services market. In his role as Senior Consultant, he has responsibility for providing advice and services to both Guernsey private clients in addition to corporate clients and their employees on pension and employee benefit solutions.

Damian is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments. He is also Honorary Secretary for the Guernsey Association of Pension Providers.


David Stewart, Lane Clark and Peacock

David Stewart

David is a partner at Lane Clark and Peacock with 25 years’ pensions experience. He provides Scheme Actuary advice to a broad range of trustee boards including pension schemes of insurers, regulated water companies and other organisations including those with parent companies in Japan, Canada and the US. In addition, he has also provided advice to trustees of schemes in the Channel Islands.

David has a particular interest in helping trustees and companies understand and implement insurance based de-risking strategies through buy-ins and buy-outs. He has advised on over 60 transactions ranging in size from £3m to £1.6bn.


Gayle Sullivan, Lane Clark and Peacock

Gayle Sullivan

Gayle is a Senior Consultant within the pensions actuarial department at LCP, with over 15 years’ experience in pension consulting in the UK and Channel Islands.

As part of the international team, she advises global organisations on their international pension risk helping them understand the risks they are exposed to and assisting them to develop and maintain their global strategy.

Gayle provides actuarial advice to a range of trustees and sponsors of pension schemes – including schemes supported by the UK subsidiaries of international parent companies covering all aspects of their pension arrangements and acting as a day-to-day contact.


Shaun Southern

Shaun Southern, Lane Clark and Peacock

Shaun has 30 years’ experience in pensions with the majority at Lane Clark and Peacock where he is a partner in the corporate actuarial practice advising a range of corporate clients on the complex pension challenges they face.  As well as providing advice on pensions all over the world, his specialisms include advising on using member options to improve member choices and outcomes as well as shrinking pension liabilities as part of a de-risking strategy.
